This formulation is only available in the US.

Main Features:
  • Isoleucine, leucine and valine-free
  • Concentrated, unflavored powder
  • Enriched with vitamins, minerals and trace elements
  • Osmolality (at a 1 to 9 dilution): 700 mOsm/kg

Indications:

  • Maple syrup urine disease (classic, inherited and intermittent forms)
  • Hypervalinemia (isoleucine and leucine should be added)
  • Alpha-methylacetoacetic aciduria (leucine and valine should be added)
  • Ketotic hypoglycemia (leucine induced, idiopathic form) (isoleucine and valine should be added)
  • Hyperprolinemia type II, with hyperleucine-isoleucinemia (valine
    should be added)

Directions for Preparation and Use:

  • The amount of MSUD 2 needed to supplement total daily protein requirements (other than isoleucine, leucine and valine) depends on age, body weight and individual tolerance for isoleucine, leucine, and valine. The dose of MSUD 2 must be determined by a physician or dietitian and adjusted periodically. Diets with MSUD 2 must contain adequate amounts of energy, essential fatty acids, isoleucine, leucine and valine to meet daily requirements.

The daily amount required should be divided into 3 to 5 single portions and can be taken mixed with calculated amounts of other food (e.g. beverages, fruit mousse). For accuracy, MSUD 2 should be weighed on a gram scale.
